The Accountant Assistant position that supports the accounting department by maintaining financial records, processing accounting transactions, preparing documentation, and assisting with tax and payroll functions. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workplace.Perform general administrative and accounting duties as assigned.
- Record daily financial transactions in accounting software.
- Assist with bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare invoices and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Organize and maintain financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support the preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns.
- Assist with GST/HST returns, payroll remittances, T4s, T5s, T5018s, and other government filings.
- Gather information and prepare documentation for CRA correspondence, audits, and reviews.
- Enter payroll information and maintain employee records.
- Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and financial summaries using Microsoft Excel.
- Communicate with clients regarding accounting records and missing documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and client information.
