Position Summary
Durose Manufacturing Ltd, a progressive leader in custom-fabricated steel products, is seeking a highly skilled Custom Boring Mill Machinist for our facility in Guelph, Ontario.
CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: This is a highly specialized role for a seasoned craftsman. This is NOT an entry-level or production-line machine operator position. We build large, heavy-duty, high-precision custom parts. Proven experience setting up and machining large, complex fabrications and weldments is mandatory. Candidates who only possess production button-pressing experience, or who have never machined large-scale multi-ton weldments, will not be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Independently set up and operate heavy-duty machinery, specifically a Gantry/Bridge Mill and a TOS Horizontal Boring Mill.
- Large-Scale Handling: Safely execute complex, multi-ton setups using an overhead crane to position massive, raw fabricated structures.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Manage material variations, stresses, and conditions inherent to large steel weldments by adapting feeds, speeds, and tooling choices on the fly.
- Programming & Editing: Read, interpret, manually modify, and optimize CNC programs to streamline first-part run-offs and tool paths.
- Precision Inspection: Perform comprehensive first-off inspections to verify tight tolerances using metric and standard blueprints embedded with complex GD&T; parameters.
- Tool Preparation: Select, prepare, index,
and change heavy-duty cutting tools optimized for highly complex parts and diverse steel grades.
Mandatory Experience & Qualifications
- Boring Mill Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience setting up and operating CNC Boring Mills (Strictly Required).
- Fabrication Experience: Documented history of "Custom / One-Off" machining on large, multi-ton raw fabrications and weldments (Strictly Required—candidates without this will be disqualified).
- Control Systems: Advanced, fluent programming and operating knowledge of Heidenhain Controls.
- Blueprints & Math: Expert ability to read and interpret complex industrial blueprints, weldment charts, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;), and technical tables.
- Education & Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent required. A General Machinist Certification / Journeyman status is considered a strong asset.
- Autonomy: Highly motivated and capable of executing complex setups and troubleshooting issues independently with minimal supervision.

Pay: $31.00-$40.00 per hour
