General Mechanic / Maintenance Technician - plastic extrusion experience

Pay: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated General Mechanic / Maintenance Technician to join our client's extrusion manufacturing facility. This is a full-time opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate.

While experience in plastic extrusion is highly preferred, candidates with strong industrial maintenance backgrounds and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Service electrical components and assist with diagnosing machine issues.
- Coordinate with production staff regarding machine repairs and maintenance requirements.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
- Work with external contractors and service providers when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain lockout/tagout documentation and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Perform plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC-related maintenance tasks as required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies.
- Shut down production lines when necessary to address safety or equipment concerns.

Qualifications





- Previous experience in industrial machinery maintenance.
- Manufacturing experience required; extrusion experience is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematic diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and machinery.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and various voltage ranges.
- Plumbing and/or HVAC experience is an asset.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Comfortable working at heights up to 35 feet and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
