The Kitimat Community Development Centre (CDC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our interdisciplinary team supporting children and youth from birth to 19 years of age. The SLPA uses family-centered, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches to provide intervention to children under the supervision and mentorship of the Registered Speech and Language Pathologist (RSLP). This is an opportunity to work in a rewarding community-based setting where your expertise will directly contribute to helping children reach their full potential.
The position is permanent full-time, 35 hours a week.
Responsibilities:
Provide therapy to clients under the supervision of a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist
Follow SLA (Speech Language Assistant)/CDA (Communicative Disorders Assistant) scope of practice
Work with clients and families from different backgrounds and specialized populations
Write progress notes and develop therapy materials for use with individual clients
Collaborate and consult with SLP and other practitioners
Utilize research information to support evidence-based practice
Attend weekly team meetings
Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:
Completion of recognized Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma or equivalent experience and qualifications.
Secondary courses in linguistics or language development (preferred but not required)
Undergraduate diploma or related coursework/experience
New grads welcome
Additional Requirements:
Current Class 5 Driver’s License and personal vehicle for work use, preferred
Available Monday to Friday, and be able to work flexible hours as needed
Experience working with children is preferred but not required
