Role Description The Assistant Project Manager is a full-time hybrid role based in the Greater Ottawa Metropolitan Area, with some work-from-home flexibility depending on project needs. This role supports the Project Manager in coordinating construction activities, tracking schedules, and managing documentation for multiple projects. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with procurement and expediting of materials, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, organizing inspections, and monitoring logistics to ensure timely delivery of resources. The Assistant Project Manager helps prepare status reports, meeting minutes, and project updates, and supports on-site visits to verify progress, quality, and adherence to safety standards. This position also involves responding to operational issues,
communicating changes to stakeholders, and contributing to process improvements in project workflows.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Expeditor and Expediting to coordinate material orders, delivery timelines, and supplier communication.
- Candidates should possess skills in Project Management to assist with scheduling, scope tracking, cost monitoring, and coordination of project tasks.
- Candidates should possess skills in Inspection to support site reviews, quality control checks, and compliance with building standards and safety regulations.
- Candidates should possess skills in Logistics Management to help plan and oversee the movement of materials, equipment, and resources between suppliers and job sites.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Proficiency with project management software, spreadsheets, and basic office tools; familiarity with construction documentation is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in construction or project coordination.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and standard construction practices in the Greater Ottawa area is beneficial.
