Role Description The Early Childhood Educator – Special Needs (Montessori Program) is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This position involves planning and implementing Montessori-based learning activities tailored to the developmental needs of children, including those with special needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include observing and documenting children’s progress, adapting materials and classroom environments, and providing individualized support that aligns with Montessori philosophy. The educator collaborates with families, support staff, and external professionals to develop and follow individualized learning plans.



Additional duties include maintaining a safe, organized classroom, participating in team meetings, and contributing to ongoing program improvement.
Qualifications

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and experience working with children, including those with diverse learning and support needs.
- Creativity skills to design engaging, developmentally appropriate Montessori activities and adapt materials for different abilities.
- Organization skills to manage classroom routines, maintain accurate documentation, and support individualized learning plans.
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; registration in good standing with relevant provincial regulatory bodies is an asset.
- Training or experience in Montessori education and/or special education is strongly preferred.
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning workplace.
- Current first aid/CPR certification and the ability to meet local licensing and background check requirements.
