We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to analyze, build, validate, and support advanced statistical models and analytical solutions within Client's HealthMap initiative. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in statistical modelling, data processing workflows, R/Python, data validation, and cloud-based analytics environments. This role involves collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to deliver sustainable, production-ready analytical solutions and knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate the existing chronic disease burden model and methodology.
- Build, validate, and operationalize statistical models within PHO's analytics environment.
- Design and implement reproducible data ingestion, transformation, and quality assurance workflows.
- Perform model validation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Support data acquisition through governance and data-sharing processes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, ETL developers, and technical teams to deliver analytical solutions.
- Develop analytical documentation, methodologies, and technical artifacts.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and prepare supporting documentation for PHO staff.
- Participate in testing, end-user support, and analytical solution deployment activities.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of PHO's cloud-based analytics platform and HealthMap initiative.
Must Have Requirements:
- Robust analytical, problem-solving,
and decision-making skills.
- Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, technical teams, data stewards, and data engineers to gather requirements and deliver analytical solutions.
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative methods, assumptions, model outputs, and limitations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Senior-level experience with statistical methods, predictive models, model validation, and reproducible analytical workflows.
- Experience designing data ingestion, transformation, data quality validation, and reproducible data-processing workflows.
- Strong proficiency in R and/or Python, query languages, and version-controlled analytical code.
- Public Sector experience is mandatory.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Health, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Preferred Certifications:
- Databricks Certified Data Analyst Associate
- Relevant certification in Statistics, Data Science, or Machine Learning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with R and Power BI.
- Experience working with public health, population health, or chronic disease data.
- Experience adapting academic or research models into enterprise production environments.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud analytics platforms and Databricks.
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
