OverviewSenior Full Stack Software Engineer (AI)Location:Hybrid - Toronto, ONOn behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a technical SME for AI product engineering who defines technical standards, patterns, and guardrails for AI product development. You will establish rapid POC cycles to validate feasibility and inform production architecture, and provides technical oversight of vendor-led production implementations.What You'll DoBuild repeatable POC process enabling team to validate technical feasibilityLead internal prototyping to prove concepts before production investmentCreate starter templates, reusable components, and AI patterns library (Skills, Agents, MCPs)Document learnings to inform production architecture and vendor directionTranslate POC learnings into production architecture and technical specificationsCreate detailed blueprints vendors execute fromDefine technical requirements: performance, security, scalability, monitoringTechnical Oversight & Risk Management (25%)Review vendor code and architecture to manage production implementation risksEnsure vendor solutions align with POC findings and architectural visionConduct architecture reviews and identify risks earlyInternalize knowledge to reduce vendor dependencyDefine AI development standards, patterns, and guardrailsEnable team to become AI-native (Claude Code, AI-assisted development)Evaluate and adopt emerging AI tools and frameworksCollaborate with UX on design system implementation for vendor useWhat It TakesProven ability to architect and ship production RAG systems—hands-on experience with chunking strategies, embeddings, vector databases, and rerankingFamiliarity with agentic patterns including MCP, function calling, tool use, and orchestration frameworks (e.G., LangGraph, Semantic Kernel)Understanding of LLM limitations and strong judgment on when AI is (and isn 't) the right solutionExposure to function calling, tool use,



and agent-to-agent interaction patterns in production or experimental settingsAbility to establish repeatable processes and patterns that enable team velocity—you build systems, not just featuresStrong technical collaboration, code review, and documentation skills to guide vendors and internal teamsPractical experience with cloud platforms and DevOps practices (Azure AI stack, CI/CD, Docker, Infrastructure as Code is a plus)Experience managing or providing technical oversight of vendor implementations is a plus5+ years of full-stack development experience, including 1+ years building production AI/ML systems with LLMsStrong backend development skills—designing and building REST APIs, handling state management, and architecting scalable servicesProven front-end expertise with React, Next.Js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, with practical experience building design systems and component librariesUnderstanding of Model Context Protocol (MCP) architecture — how MCP servers expose tools and data to AI clients, and how standardized tool integration replaces custom point-to-point connectors in enterprise environmentsBase salary range $140K - $170KAffinity EarnKnow someone who’s outstanding for this, or any of our open roles?
