The logistics manager is an experienced logistics professional who will oversee daily shipments activities as well as the overall strategic direction of their department. As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management and logistics. You would also demonstrate being at ease working various transportation scenarios in a demanding, fast-paced environment that is enthusiastically devoted to customer satisfaction. Your sense of urgency, mission mindset, attention to detail and strategic planning skills will be crucial in ensuring that your department meets the needs of our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Logistics Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of air import shipments, including:
- Provide leadership and direction to the operations team
- Oversee daily operational workflow to ensure efficiency, productivity, and high service quality across the department
- Plan and supervise shipments from production to end-user
- Proficient knowledge of Air freight logistics is a excellent asset
- Research and suggest value-driven and cost-effective transportation solutions
- Monitor and report on performance
- Manage departmental resource allocation including staffing levels, workload distribution, and operational priorities
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure service continuity and operational stability
- Organize training, coaching, and mentor development initiatives for all team members
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
- Keep organized records
- Collaborate with customers to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
- Build and maintain relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders
- Look after the continuous improvement of the department’s operations
- Promote OEC’s corporate culture, operational excellence, and customer service philosophy
- Travel occasionally (less than 5%) to visit other OEC offices or support operational initiatives
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Tech-savvy, with proficiency in using logistics systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and French
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Accountability and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Team-oriented with a strong sense of collaboration and shared success.
Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English AND French is required for this position, as the incumbent must regularly communicate - both verbally and in writing - with clients, suppliers, carriers, and international partners located inside and outside of Quebec. These communications are essential to the performance of export-related responsibilities and cannot be adequately carried out in one language alone.
