Position Description

The Engineering Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for engineering functions, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with organizational objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and lifecycle management of our commercial and industrial chiller and air handling unit (AHU) portfolios. As a key leader, you will set engineering strategy, drive execution across multiple teams or programs, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality, scalable solutions. You will partner with executive leadership, operations, product, and commercial teams to guide innovation, resource planning, and long‑term capability development. This position is central to building high‑performing teams, advancing engineering standards, and delivering measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Engineering Leadership: Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with organizational goals, growth initiatives, and technology roadmaps.
- Team & Program Execution: Lead multiple engineering teams and functional areas, ensuring effective execution across complex programs and projects.
- Engineering Standards & Governance: Establish, enforce, and advance engineering standards, governance, and technical best practices across the organization.
- Resource & Budget Management: Oversee strategic resource planning, budgeting, capacity management,



and long‑term workforce planning to support priority initiatives.
- Cross‑Functional Alignment: Partner with executive leadership, product, operations, and commercial stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
- Technical Oversight: Review and approve major technical decisions, system architectures, and high‑risk design changes.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on fostering innovation, efficiency, quality, and cost savings.
- Talent Development: Develop leadership talent through mentoring, succession planning, and robust organizational development.
- Performance Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance metrics related to engineering productivity, quality, and delivery.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with regulatory, safety, and industry standards across engineering activities.

Required Education & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Master’s degree (e.g., M.S. Engineering or MBA) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, including at least 5 to 7 years in senior leadership or multi‑team management roles.
- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in HVAC systems, with significant, hands‑on exposure to chillers and/or air handling equipment.
- Proven track record of leading large, cross‑functional engineering organizations or complex technical programs.
- Solid technical background with the ability to guide architectural, design, and engineering decisions.
- Demonstrated success aligning engineering strategy with business and financial objectives.
- Experience managing budgets, resources,



and long‑term workforce planning.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and change management capabilities.
- Strong business acumen and excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Experience implementing enterprise‑level engineering processes, standards, and governance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence both executive and technical audiences.
- Experience operating in regulated, manufacturing, technology, or industrial environments is highly preferred.
