AI Governance and Risk Implementation Lead

About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for helping implement the AI governance roadmap, facilitating cross-functional collaboration across the AI lifecycle, developing governance processes and controls, and providing status reporting to senior leadership. Key qualifications include experience with the NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, executive-level communication, and the ability to translate governance requirements into technical language and vice versa.
- The role is primarily governance-focused rather than cybersecurity-focused.
- Client recently developed a NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) playbook.
- An initial maturity assessment was completed to identify current-state gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- A 12-month roadmap was created to address identified gaps and operationalize standards, guardrails, processes, and controls supporting responsible AI adoption.
Role Scope and Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders throughout the AI lifecycle, from intake through decommissioning.
- Operationalize AI governance standards, guardrails, processes, and controls.
- Lead and support cross-functional working sessions.
- Develop materials in advance of governance discussions.
- Help establish an operating model, including ownership,
cadence, and governance processes.
- Provide ongoing status reporting and progress updates to senior management, particularly within Technology.
What they will do
- Apply NIST AI RMF concepts across the AI lifecycle, including integration into existing governance, risk management, and monitoring activities.
- Develop, implement, and operationalize AI governance standards, procedures, and guidance aligned with the NIST AI RMF maturity assessment findings.
- Facilitate cross-functional working sessions and help establish a sustainable AI governance operating model.
- Develop scalable workflows and control guidance to support consistent AI governance implementation across the enterprise.
- Translate AI principles and risk requirements into transparent control expectations, review checkpoints, and implementation guidance.
- Develop executive-level presentation materials to communicate NIST AI RMF priorities, implementation progress, and key risk considerations.
- Partner with the Project Manager to support workstream planning, monitor deliverables, and enable timely execution against agreed priorities.
