Build Relationships. Shape Legacies. Become a Partner.

Some professionals sell insurance. Others help families, entrepreneurs, and business owners make decisions that shape their future for generations.

At Aeternus, we believe life insurance is one piece of a much larger planning conversation. We work alongside accountants, lawyers, bankers, and family advisors to design sophisticated strategies that protect wealth, preserve businesses, reduce tax, and create certainty where it matters most.

We're looking for an Associate Partner who thrives on solving complex problems, building trusted relationships, and creating long-term value—not chasing transactions.

This is more than a senior client-facing role. It's a defined pathway to Partnership for someone who consistently demonstrates exceptional client stewardship, disciplined business development, and the ability to lead both people and outcomes.

Where Precision Meets Judgment

Success at Aeternus isn't measured by products sold.

It's measured by the quality of relationships you build, the confidence clients place in your advice, and your ability to translate complexity into practical action.

You'll lead sophisticated planning engagements from initial discovery through implementation and ongoing stewardship, coordinating both internal specialists and external advisors to ensure every recommendation is technically sound, strategically aligned, and executable.

At the same time, you'll continue expanding your own practice by developing meaningful relationships with clients and centres of influence who value thoughtful, long-term planning.

What You'll Do

Lead Exceptional Client Relationships

You'll become the trusted advisor responsible for guiding clients through every stage of their planning journey by:

- Leading comprehensive discovery conversations to understand clients' businesses, families, and long-term objectives.
- Designing sophisticated insurance and planning strategies alongside accountants, lawyers, and other professional advisors.

- Coordinating implementation while ensuring every recommendation is practical, compliant, and executed with precision.
- Conducting proactive reviews that identify changing risks and new planning opportunities.
- Serving as the primary relationship owner, ensuring clients experience consistent, responsive, and thoughtful service.

Build and Grow Your Practice

You'll be expected to build a healthy pipeline and originate new opportunities through disciplined relationship development—not product sales.

This includes:

- Developing relationships with business owners, high-net-worth families, and skilled advisors.
- Identifying opportunities where Aeternus' planning-led approach creates meaningful value.
- Leading strategic conversations that uncover underlying business, tax, estate, and succession challenges.
- Managing opportunities through a structured sales process from initial meeting through implementation.
- Collaborating with internal specialists to deliver sophisticated solutions clients can confidently implement.

Lead People and Contribute to the Firm

As an Associate Partner, leadership extends beyond managing clients.

You'll also:

- Coach and develop members of your team.
- Set clear expectations and provide meaningful feedback.
- Foster collaboration across disciplines and offices.
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and strategic priorities.
- Help strengthen the culture, capability, and long-term growth of Aeternus.

What You Bring

We're looking for someone who combines technical credibility with commercial judgment and genuine relationship-building ability.

You'll likely have:

- 10+ years of experience in financial services or another professional services environment.

- Demonstrated success building client relationships and developing new business.
- Experience managing sophisticated client engagements involving multiple professional advisors.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian insurance planning, tax, estate, or corporate structures.
- An established network of clients and/or professional advisors.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365.

One or more of the following designations or qualifications is expected:

- CPA
- CFA
- CLU
- TEP
- Law degree with corporate structuring experience
- Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course

You'll Thrive Here If You...

- Think strategically before acting.
- Build trust through competence, curiosity, and follow-through.
- Enjoy solving complex planning problems.
- Can simplify sophisticated concepts for clients and advisors.
- Balance commercial drive with professional stewardship.
- Hold yourself accountable for outcomes—not just activity.
- Naturally collaborate across disciplines.
- Want to help build something bigger than your own book of business.

Compensation

This is a performance-based role designed for professionals who want to build a long-term practice.

Compensation includes:

- Competitive base compensation
- Performance-based incentive compensation tied to clearly defined business development, client service, and leadership outcomes
- A defined pathway toward Partnership for those who consistently demonstrate exceptional performance and leadership.

Why Aeternus?

We believe exceptional client outcomes happen when technical excellence meets thoughtful collaboration.

Our team includes experienced professionals from insurance, accounting, tax, finance, actuarial science, and law who work together to solve complex planning challenges for clients across Canada.

If you're looking for a place where you'll be trusted to think independently, challenged to grow professionally, and supported in building a meaningful career—not simply a sales pipeline—we'd like to meet you.
