Job Description

Finning is urgently hiring multiple Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to support our customer in the Elk Valley. This role offers an opportunity to work on ultra-class Caterpillar mining equipment for the biggest players in the industry.

What’s In It For You?

- Industry Leading Wage: $63.33-$69.59/hr (probationary to full rate, includes RWA and premiums)
- $5.00/hr Night Shift Premium (when applicable)

Your work will include:

- Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment
- Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication

Specific Skills & Experience





- Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
- Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr)
- 3+ years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field
- Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems
- Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial
- Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience
- Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset

Important Details

- 7 x 7 Continuous Shift based in Elkford, BC
- $300/month LOA (Commuters/non-residents (8+ km away) who provide own housing)
- A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable

Union Membership

This is a unionized position. Union dues will be deducted from your pay upon hire. Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
