Are you looking for a role where you will provide mechanical trades services by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and fabricating mechanical equipment and repairing, modifying, and installing new or existing structures?
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks based on the Red Seal Occupational Analysis.
- Conduct routine and non‑routine preventive and corrective maintenance on CNL mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors, precision machining equipment, gear boxes, hydraulic units, etc.)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical equipment to ensure safe operation and continuity of production.
- Read and interpret drawings, work packages, and reference materials to fully understand job scope.
- Ensure all work complies with Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) regulations and applicable codes.
- Document maintenance activities and complete all pertinent paperwork to maintain an accurate maintenance history.
- Construct, fabricate, install, or de‑commission mechanical systems and structures.
- Maintain valuable housekeeping practices in all work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Adhere to provincial, federal, and AECL regulations to provide a safe, efficient working environment.
- Attend monthly safety meetings and immediately report any safety concerns or infractions.
- Apply Event Free Tools and Pre‑Job Brief information throughout assigned work.
- Assist in the training, coaching, and mentoring of apprentices and co‑op students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications
- Education
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completed apprenticeship training or equivalent and qualified as a Millwright with an Interprovincial Red Seal ticket.
- Experience
- Minimum 3 years as a Red Seal Millwright.
- Experience in a wide variety of industrial work environments.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of internal structural checklists, maintenance records, and inspection processes.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as CSA 47.1/W59, CSA N285, Z‑299, Quality Assurance levels and Underwriter’s Laboratory codes.
- Knowledge of metallurgy and equipment effectiveness.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings specific to Millwrights.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring and levelling equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with multi‑trade teams and CNL staff.
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Problem‑solving abilities to adapt installation techniques to on‑site conditions.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and weld per specifications.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Adaptability and initiative in changing environments.
- Punctuality, dependability, and safety‑mindfulness.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational and time‑prioritisation skills.
- Security Clearance Eligibility
- Reliability status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC) requiring 3‑5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom.
Working Conditions
- Position governed by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 608 collective agreement.
- Compressed workweek: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (40 hours total) from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
