Compensation

Salary Range: $59,300 – $72,500 (based on a 35‑hour workweek).

Incentive Plan: Annual bonus target of 7.5% of base salary with a potential payout of up to 200% based on performance.

About The Role

We’re looking for an Underwriter, Commercial Lines, to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

- Support the underwriting of a portfolio of commercial businesses within established program guidelines and authority limits
- Evaluate and price risks with guidance, applying consistent underwriting practices to support profitable growth
- Quote and bind new business, renewals, and endorsements with a focus on scalability and operational efficiency
- Respond to inquiries, address basic issues, and ensure a high level of service for client management activities
- Build and maintain positive relationships with insurers, clients, and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal teams to support program performance and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, program rules, and regulatory requirements




- Contribute to process improvements and program enhancements where appropriate
- Utilize internal systems for policy inquiries, electronic filing, underwriting, and rating transactions
- Participate in training and development to build underwriting knowledge and expertise
- Act as a strong team player, supporting team initiatives and fostering a collaborative environment
- Prospect to participate in occasional travel

Qualifications

- 1–3 years of commercial brokering, underwriting, or insurance experience
- RIBO license required
- Strong interest in developing a career in commercial underwriting
- Good relationship‑building skills with clients, insurers, and team members
- Ability to manage tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
