OverviewMANAGER, PENSION ACCOUNTING (BAND LEVEL 12)Associate Vice-President (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer, Pensions Services(Permanent Position)ResponsibilitiesLead the financial accounting activities for Memorial University’s pension plan and provide comprehensive oversight of financial accounting and administrative operations supporting a defined benefit pension plan valued at 2.4 billion dollars.Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting for the pension plan, including preparation of annual audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP.Oversee all financial aspects of pension plan operations, including investment income reporting, asset and liability recognition, journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial schedules.Prepare detailed statistical, fiscal, and analytical reports for senior leadership; conduct internal auditsto evaluate workflow processes and maintain effective internal controls.Plan and coordinate financial activities, supervise staff, evaluate workflow systems, and implement improvements to optimize service delivery across the unit.Oversee pension plan cash flows (contributions, benefit payments, rebalancing-related flows, and other financial transactions) and monitor financial commitments within the University’s systems.Develop and monitor annual budgets and multi-year forecasts for pension operations; conduct financialanalyses to support long-range sustainability and advise on revenue, expenditure patterns, and policy development.Collaborate with Human Resources, central Finance, and other units on financial systems, policies,
