Senior Project Manager (Custom Architectural Millwork – Commercial Projects)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Manager on behalf of a well-established custom architectural millwork manufacturer serving high-end commercial construction projects.

This position is suited to a senior project professional with extensive experience managing complex architectural woodwork and custom millwork projects from contract award through manufacturing, installation, and final closeout.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager will oversee large-scale, high-end architectural millwork projects and serve as the primary point of contact between clients, general contractors, installers, trades, and internal manufacturing teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, budgeting, documentation, site coordination, quality control, and client communication. This individual must be able to translate client and design requirements into clear, achievable deliverables while protecting project timelines, quality standards, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, installers, consultants, trades, and internal project teams.
- Manage architectural millwork projects from contract award through design, manufacturing, installation, deficiency completion, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and key project milestones.
- Coordinate closely with estimating, engineering, programming, procurement, production, installation, and accounting teams.
- Review project scope, contracts, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee shop drawing preparation, review, submission, revisions, approvals, and drawing logs.
- Coordinate material selections, samples, mock-ups, finishes, hardware, and client approvals.
- Maintain accurate sample registries and project documentation.

- Coordinate site measurements, field conditions, material requirements, delivery schedules, and installation logistics.
- Conduct site visits for measurement verification, construction coordination, progress reviews, and quality assurance.
- Work with electrical, plumbing, flooring, glazing, mechanical, and other trades to ensure the millwork scope integrates properly with surrounding construction.
- Identify and resolve issues involving design, manufacturing, materials, installation, quality, scheduling, and site conditions.
- Track scope changes and work with estimating to prepare and issue change orders within required timelines.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and monitor material orders, deliveries, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor project costs, labour requirements, schedules, and overall profitability.
- Ensure invoicing is accurate and completed according to project milestones.
- Support accounting with project billing and receivables when required.
- Maintain complete project files, including correspondence, approvals, site documentation, as-built drawings, warranties, and closeout packages.
- Manage deficiency lists and ensure all outstanding items are completed and formally signed off by the client.
- Complete required quality-control documentation and communicate project requirements to production and installation supervisors.
- Provide clear and consistent project updates to senior management and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of five years of project management experience within architectural millwork,

custom fabrication, commercial interiors, store fixtures, or a closely related industry.
- Approximately 10 years or more of overall custom architectural millwork experience is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of architectural millwork processes, including estimating, engineering, shop drawings, manufacturing, finishing, delivery, installation, and closeout.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value commercial millwork projects.
- Experience of working with general contractors, architects, designers, consultants, trades, installers, and manufacturing teams.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, change orders, documentation, and multiple project priorities.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costs, margins, scope control, and risk.
- Excellent communication, organization, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable conducting regular site visits and working in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with project management, scheduling, budgeting, and document-control software.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned architectural millwork professional who understands both the construction site and manufacturing sides of a project. They can independently manage demanding clients, coordinate multiple stakeholders, anticipate project risks, and maintain control of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and documentation.

This is not an entry-level project management opportunity. Candidates must bring substantial custom millwork knowledge and be capable of leading complex projects with limited supervision.

Qualified candidates are invited to apply and all applications and discussions will be handled confidentially.
