Role Overview
The Safety & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of safety and regulatory compliance across Seaport’s transportation and logistics operations. More specifically, this role ensures the company remains compliant with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and MTO requirements, while promoting a strong culture of safety across all departments. Reporting to the Supervisor, Driver Performance Management, Safety & Compliance, the Safety & Compliance Coordinator acts as a key point of contact for drivers, supports the Safety & Compliance team, and drives continuous improvement of safety systems, reporting, and processes.
Role may be based in Pointe Claire, Quebec or Etobicoke, Ontario
Compensation
$47,000 - $57,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Key Accountabilities
- Act as a primary escalation point for driver safety concerns and issues that can’t be resolved at the front line.
- Oversee all Hours of Service (HOS) matters, including assisting drivers with ELDs, troubleshooting, and log management.
- Handle and manage Samsara and ELD systems and monitor incoming alerts on a regular basis.
- Create various reports related to telematic devices as requested or required.
- Pull Driver Abstracts and CVOR on a quarterly basis.
- Ensure all accident and incident reporting is completed during and after office hours,
and document incidents and accidents for insurance claims.
- Report monthly on SMS and CVOR scores, including targeting and achieving improvement goals.
- Ensure all drivers are compliant and driving in a safe manner, including administering random drug and alcohol testing.
- Maintain driver binders and manage permitting and plating.
- Perform audits and inspections on the fleet and assist with IFTA filing.
- Hold quarterly safety and inspection workshops and conduct driver training sessions.
- Coach and monitor driver performance and assist in creating driver scorecards.
- Support leadership on departmental duties and goals as required.

Qualifications
- College diploma, preferably in logistics or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a safety and compliance role within transportation and logistics.
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and MTO regulations.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, and comfort working with Samsara and ELDs.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a quick-paced environment.
- Hybrid schedule, with in-office days based at our Pointe-Claire, QC terminal location.
- Travel is required, approximately 25% (one week per month) between Montreal and Toronto to connect with the fleet and support Safety operations.
