We’re looking for a Nurse Practitioner to work closely with residents and their families within the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre. The role offers a predictable daytime schedule with no nights or on‑call responsibilities, allowing for work‑life balance. You will lead the interdisciplinary team, influence care practices, and build long‑term relationships with residents and families.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations or Program Manager, the NP works across acute and continuing care settings using an evidence‑informed holistic approach. The majority of time is spent in clinical practice inclusive of: diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health and preventing illness or injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals and therapies, and performing procedures, interventions, or treatments within the scope of practice defined by Schedule 24 of the Health Professions Act and CRNA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program at a Master of Nursing level.
- Relevant and recent clinical expertise within a stream of practice.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Appropriate licensing with the clinical practice stream relevant to area of clinical employment.
Additional Required Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work directly with residents/patients and their family members.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to function independently.
- Excel at working in a dynamic fast‑paced environment.
- Work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
- Application and knowledge of current research.
- Experience in a wide range of assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures and follow‑up care within LTC, End of Life Care, Palliative Care, and Restorative Care.
- Must practice to full scope of knowledge in an interdisciplinary team setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of recent clinical experience as an NP in continuing care.
- Recent clinical experience as an RN in continuing care.
- Connect Care experience.
- Recent experience in wound care and ostomies.
