Job Summary
The Senior Consultant, Indirect Tax, within Ryan’s Transaction Tax Group delivers fee‑based advisory services to clients, conducts training, and supports engagement execution across various tax areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform client engagements: contingency reviews, due diligence, audit defense and management, ERP installation assistance, harmonization implementation, Concur expense program design, exposure identification reviews, tax filing, and other compliance engagements.
- Create and update tax matrices, handle voluntary disclosures, objections, appeals, ruling requests, and other consulting assignments.
- Engage in secondments to client sites as required.
- Prepare and deliver fee‑based tax seminars and workshops to clients and internal teams.
- Analyze tax assessments and recommend appeal strategies.
- Participate in monthly consultant training meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Professional accounting designation: CPA, CA; CPA, CMA; or CPA, CGA.
- Five or more years of accounting or tax‑related experience in industry or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GST, Quebec Sales Tax, and Provincial Retail Sales Tax legislation and policies; commodity tax experience preferred.
- Completed CPA Canada In‑Depth Commodity Tax Course (preferred).
- Strong command of written English.
Computer Skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet research.
- Experience with TaxNet Pro and Knotia.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Limited supervisory duties, including assisting peers and cross‑checking work for accuracy.
- Collaboration with internal team.
Work Workplace
- Hybrid role: 1–3 days in office in Mississauga or downtown Toronto, remaining days remote.
- Standard indoor setting with occasional long periods of computer use.
- Regular interaction with employees and clients via in‑person, email, and telephone.
Compensation
Base salary range: $61,000 to $80,300 (Mississauga, ON). Incentive compensation may be available for certain roles.
