Desai Maruszki LLP is looking for a personal injury legal assistant with 2-3 years experience to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have experience with accident benefits and tort claims, knowledge of the SABS and the Rules of Civil Procedure, excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and is able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Role responsibilities include:
- Provide administrative support to lawyers;
- Liaison with clients, experts, tribunal and court staff;
- Maintaining lawyer's calendar, including scheduling client meetings, examination for discovery, mediations, pre-trials and trial, preparation meetings and conference calls;
- Preparation and service of documents, including Affidavit of Documents and Schedule "A" productions, Notice of Examination, and LAT Document Briefs;
- Handling undertakings and record productions;
- Assembling and service of Records/Briefs, including motions, mediation, medical, pre-trial and productions.
- Maintenance and organization of client files; and
- Draft correspondence.
Qualifications
- Experience in personal injury is an asset;
- A keen attention to detail and robust organizational skills;
- The ability to work effectively in a team and individually; and
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols.
