What is the Opportunity?

Aecon has successfully executed a broad range of projects, including construction of the Bruce ‘B’ heavy Water Plant, Bruce Unit 1 & 2 Balance of Plant Refurbishment and the Darlington Used Fuel Dry Storage Project. This track record has made Aecon a trusted supplier for clients’ mission‑critical projects. The Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement Project (RFR) – Ontario Power Generation’s largest nuclear project – and the fabrication, assembly, examination and testing of 24 ASME Mechanical Process Modules for new nuclear power plants in the U.S. are key examples of Aecon’s flagship projects.

The position is located in Pickering, Ontario and reports to the Procurement Manager. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for negotiating pricing and terms for commodities, equipment and services for the OPG ESMSA portfolio.

What You’ll Do Here

- Lead and manage the full procurement lifecycle to support project or site success.
- Engage early, conduct demand planning, develop procurement plans, tender, solicit markets, negotiate, award contracts and manage post‑award.
- Procure equipment, materials and components for nuclear power plants, including plate, structural steel, pipe, valves, weld consumables, electrical components, personal protective wear.
- Review purchase requisitions for clarity, completeness, quality assurance, funding authorization, delivery requirements and mode of transportation.
- Prepare and issue standard and quality‑related RFQs to qualified vendors on AiCon’s Approved Suppliers List.
- Conduct market‑based research to identify current suppliers providing value to projects.




- Assist in developing project‑specific procurement plans and lead such efforts when assigned.
- Negotiate major contracts for best price, delivery terms, payment conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation and other supply‑impacting factors.
- Support consumption of cost‑reduction strategies to meet organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with Operations personnel and regional offices to secure needed materials.
- Support estimating teams with pricing during tendering.
- Ensure quality, reliability and responsiveness meet or exceed operational expectations.
- Manage logistics, including expediting critical site deliveries.
- Provide after‑hours service to internal clients.
- Ensure AeCon Quality Assurance manual training is accurate and current.
- Conduct supplier and job site visits in support of the Quality Department.
- Stay informed about new products and consumer trends.

What You Bring To The Team

- 2‑3 years experience in the nuclear construction industry in a procurement role or 5+ years in a conventional procurement role.
- Completion of a Materials and Operations Management Program at the college or university level is an asset.
- Enrollment in or completion of PMAC’s Accreditation Program is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office products.




- Working knowledge of the OPG Passport system is a plus.
- Knowledge of nuclear codes and standards related to procurement, including ASME Sections III, NCA 4000, NQA‑1, CSA N285.0, CSA N286‑05 and CSA Z299/N299 Series.
- Basic knowledge of other material or component codes such as ASME Sections II & III, ASTM and CSA is an asset.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Good interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
- Strong planning, decision‑making, negotiation and time‑management abilities.
- Awareness of competitive trends and sales techniques.
- Experience with SAP planning system is an asset.
- Occasional travel to supplier facilities for source inspections, operations review and improvement discussions.
- Travel to project sites for required meetings.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines and non‑standard hours.
- Compliance with mandated nuclear export controls requirements.
- Completed background and security clearance, with a valid Bruce Power clearance preferred.

Reason for vacancy: New

The expected pay range for this role is $69,000 - $92,000 per year. Individual pay is determined based on location, education, experience, skills and job conditions. Other considerations include certifications, specialized training and the complexity or scope of the role.
