Salary The NSCC Faculty salary scale for Nova Scotia ranges from $78,771.88 to $104,267.58. New Faculty may receive up to nine steps or $97,388.02 based on experience.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the Marine Engineering Technology program.

Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment and evaluation, using flexible teaching practices and technologies such as Learning Management Systems (Brightspace) and classroom technology.

Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in classrooms, shops and labs.

Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and continuously develop your understanding of twenty‑first‑century teaching and learning practices. The position may involve different delivery modalities (in‑class, online, blended) and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.

Perform related duties including academic and career advisement; participate on committees; support program marketing, curriculum revision/development; monitor work placements; liaise with business and industry; represent the College; uphold NSCC policies and procedures.





Qualifications and Experience

Canadian STCW Certificate of Competency at a Second Engineer/Chief Engineer level or non‑Canadian STCW Certificate of Competency at a Chief Engineer level.

Minimum of five years (full‑time equivalent) experience working on board ships as a ships engineer or in an ashore office related to the shipping industry.

Thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of Ship Construction, Naval Architecture, Marine Electrical Technology, basic engineering subjects, contemporary marine engineering practices (International Marine Environmental Pollution Prevention Regulations), Canada Shipping Acts and Regulations.

Demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.

Experience on board as an Electro‑Technical Officer, with electronic and camless engines, high‑voltage vessels and electric hybrid engines (considered assets).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and email; comfortable working in a digital environment and using multimedia technologies to engage students in online and blended learning.

Preferred: related experience in delivering educational programs or training to adults; experience providing performance feedback; applying WHMIS, occupational health and safety and occupation‑specific safety practices.
