is seeking an experienced
HR Business Partner I (Temporary - 1 Year Term)
at
Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
to support operations within a dynamic airport-based environment. This role is responsible for executing HR policies, procedures, and people strategies as directed by the People & Culture leadership team, while partnering closely with Operations leaders to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead HR activities for an airport or cluster of locations (under 600 team members) within Food & Beverage operations
Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, development, retention, and offboarding
Serve as a trusted advisor to Operations leaders on HR policies, employee relations, engagement, and performance matters
Provide HR policy guidance and ensure consistent interpretation across teams
Partner with regional leadership to analyze workforce trends and recommend strategic HR solutions
Manage employee relations issues proactively, including investigations and documentation
Support labour relations activities including grievances, arbitrations, and contract administration
Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and internal standards
Promote a positive workplace culture focused on engagement, learning, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
5+ years of HR experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
2–4 years in a leadership or HR generalist/HRBP capacity preferred
Experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or retail environments preferred
Unionized environment experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, training, compensation, and benefits
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion
Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems (HRIS)

This is a
1-year temporary position
Requires on-site presence at assigned location(s) 5 days per week
May require up to 50% travel
