Position: Sr. Project Manager
Job Type: Full Time
Location: This position will be based in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta. This position will require travel throughout Western Canada.

SB Canada is currently seeking a permanent, full time Sr. Project Manager to join our organization.
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the successful leadership and delivery of complex geotechnical and deep foundation projects throughout the Prairies Region. This role provides strategic oversight for project execution, contract administration, financial performance, risk management, client relationships, and team leadership while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Be an active participant and key stakeholder in SB Canada’s Health and Safety Program; helping to contribute to a positive safety culture as we move from compliance to care;
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for the successful execution of projects from estimate handover through project closeout, ensuring safety, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction objectives are achieved.
- Lead the planning, development, and management of project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and resource plans.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify risks, opportunities, constructability concerns, and value engineering initiatives.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing project teams and ensuring alignment with operational and business objectives.
- Drive project performance by establishing, monitoring, and reporting on key productivity, financial, and operational metrics.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Project Coordinators,
and other project delivery personnel to build team capability and strengthen organizational performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead contract administration activities, including negotiation and management of subcontracts, change orders, claims, payment applications, holdbacks, and dispute resolution.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks, including technical, contractual, financial, and operational challenges.
- Ensure the timely mobilization of labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to support successful project delivery.
- Provide leadership and direction in resolving technical issues related to subsurface conditions, underground obstructions, utilities, and project execution challenges.
- Support business development initiatives, including client relationship management, prequalification submissions, tender reviews, and proposal development.
- Participate in tendering activities and provide strategic input during estimating, risk assessment, and project planning stages.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Estimating, and HSE teams to ensure project objectives are achieved and corporate standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
- Serve as a visible leader in all aspects of the business, including safety, quality, productivity, community relations, employee development, and corporate initiatives.
- Travel throughout the Prairies Region as required to support project execution, client engagement, and operational leadership.

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in construction related field of engineering;
- 10+ years of project management experience in the Heavy Civil Construction Industry and possessing knowledge of the relevant construction industry codes and practices;
- Alternatively, 10+ years of project management experience with a general contractor working on projects with a significant foundation component;
- Experience with both commercial foundation projects as well as large industrial projects;
- Robust experience with effective health and safety programs, including HSE inspections and incident investigations;
- Demonstrated competency in MS Projects;
- Proven track record of successful project management of piling projects and experience and knowledge in the construction of drilled piles and driven piles;
- Basic pile design knowledge would be beneficial;
- Registration as a P.Eng would be beneficial;
- Possess a valid Driver’s License;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and strong problem-solving skills.
