OverviewGFT is seeking aProject Engineer, Wet/ Dry Utilitiesto join our Transportation Group inToronto, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office. Explore some of our signature roadway projects here.What You Will Be Challenged To DoAt GFT, we’re building infrastructure that drives communities forward—and we want you to help lead the charge. As aProject Engineer specializing in wet utilities(sewers and watermains) with coordination experience indry utilities(hydro, gas, telecom), you’ll play a pivotal role in the design, execution, and success of complex infrastructure projects.Lead utility relocation and installation design activities, particularly for wet utilities.Coordinate utility impacts with hydro (transmission and distribution), telecom, and gas systems.Prepare detailed and preliminary designs for sewers and watermains, including engineering calculations.Collaborate across internal disciplines and external stakeholders to create integrated design solutions.Ensure full compliance with project agreements, third-party utility and municipal standards, and applicable construction specifications.Deliver accurate and timely submittals while balancing competing project priorities.Conduct site inspections and generate detailed field reports to inform project decisions.Recommend enhancements to existing utility infrastructure based on engineering evaluation.Facilitate coordination with contractors to ensure efficient and cost-effective construction.Participate in design and constructibility workshops,



bringing real-world insights to project planning.Contribute to permitting processes, proposal development, and other project support tasks.Education | ExperienceWhat You Will Bring To The FirmA Civil Engineering Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma or equivalent fieldMinimum 8 years of applicable experience and a strong background in the design of wet utility systems including watermain and sewer infrastructureAn Engineer-In-Training or Professional Engineer license (P.Eng., Canada)Proficiency in CADD (ACAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D), geometry software, and the MS Office suiteDemonstrated ability to coordinate and address design considerations for dry utilities (hydro, telecom, gas)Experience managing or supporting utility relocations in transportation and infrastructure settingsProficiency in interpreting and applying municipal design standards, utility specifications, and construction practicesStrong communication skills for working with clients, contractors, and third-party utility providersA proven track record of delivering high-quality engineering deliverables under tight deadlinesFamiliarity with site inspection protocols and reportingWhat We Prefer You BringProfessional Engineering designation (P.Eng) in Ontario or eligibility for licensingExperience supporting Metrolinx, TTC, MTO,



or other agency-led infrastructure programsKnowledge of local permitting and approval processes for utility infrastructureEnthusiasm for continuous learning and a mindset for solving engineering challenges creativelyExperience contributing to proposal writing or pursuit strategies in the infrastructure sectorCompensationThe range for this position is $96,100 - $140,000.
