Position
Manager, Trade & Customs
Role Overview
Lead client engagements, mentor team members, and contribute to the growth of the Trade & Customs practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Trade & Customs engagements involving customs valuation, tariff classification, origin determination, free trade agreements, trade compliance reviews, customs audit support, voluntary disclosures, duty mitigation, tariff planning strategies, technical research, advisory reports, and client presentations.
- Liaise with government authorities including CBSA and other regulatory agencies as required.
- Support clients through customs audits, verifications, assessments, disputes, and appeals.
- Provide practical, risk‑based recommendations addressing complex trade and customs challenges.
- Lead engagement planning, execution, and delivery from inception through completion.
- Coach, mentor and develop junior colleagues, providing technical guidance and support ongoing professional development within the team.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, and identify opportunities for additional advisory services and practice growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Trade & Customs, international trade, indirect tax, customs compliance, or related advisory services.
- Completion of the Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) or equivalent.
- Proven ability to manage projects through their full cycle and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Robust technical knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, CUSMA and other trade agreements, CBSA compliance requirements,
customs audit and verification processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, complex environment and work collaboratively as part of a high‑performing team.
- Results‑oriented, quick learner, self‑starter, and someone who brings a positive, professional and client‑focused approach.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally outside the region as required for client engagements, business development activities, conferences, and firm meetings.

- Salary range: $96,800 to $133,100 (Markham, ON); ranges may differ for other locations.
