Become a vital part of the Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service as a Communications Operator. Responsible for emergency dispatch and resource coordination, this role is essential for public safety.
This position requires you to manage communication devices including radios, phones, and computers to ensure prompt emergency responses. Your duties involve dispatching firefighters, completing incident reports, and monitoring coverage throughout emergencies.
The role is critical in maintaining operational details during incidents and provides administrative support to the Fire Department.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch appropriate fire apparatus during emergencies
Monitor fire/emergency communication and resource movement
Complete CAD reports and generate detailed invoices
Record and manage burning permits
Train and evaluate recent Communications Operators
Requirements:
Graduate of post-secondary Emergency Services Dispatch program
Valid 'G' Ontario Driver's license
Certification in NFPA 1061 Level I preferred
Solid communication skills in high-stress situations
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
