Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Controls Engineer to join our engineering team in Windsor, ON. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in propulsion system controls, calibration, and control strategy development for conventional and electrified powertrains. This role requires expertise in developing, validating, and optimizing control algorithms while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality propulsion control solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement propulsion control strategies for conventional and electrified powertrains.
Design, develop, and validate control algorithms for engine, transmission, hybrid, and electric propulsion systems.
Perform controls calibration, testing, and validation to ensure system performance and reliability.
Support system integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, calibration, systems, and vehicle engineering.
Coordinate technical activities and drive projects to successful completion.
Apply systems engineering principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
Provide technical leadership and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or another relevant STEM discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
Minimum 5 years of experience in propulsion system controls and calibration development.
Experience with conventional and electrified propulsion systems.
Strong knowledge of control algorithm development and control strategy design.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Proven ability to lead technical projects and work effectively in a cooperative environment.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design.
Knowledge of embedded control systems and ECU development.
Experience with calibration and validation tools such as ETAS INCA, dSPACE, CANalyzer, or CANoe.
Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and vehicle validation.
Automotive OEM or Tier‑1 supplier experience is highly preferred.
