This part-time, temporary role focuses on delivering both informal and formal peer support to individuals facing substance use challenges. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the Peer Support Provider will facilitate access to addiction treatment, harm reduction strategies, and essential community resources. Your lived experience and understanding of peer support values will make a significant impact on patients' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide peer support within the Emergency Department
• Assist individuals in navigating treatment and community services
• Offer education on harm reduction and substance use options
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless transitions
• Foster a respectful and non-judgmental workplace for patients
Requirements:
• Minimum one year of peer support experience
• Personal lived experience with substance use preferred
• Knowledge of addiction services and harm reduction strategies
• Robust communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to continuous learning and career development
