Become a Therapeutic Counsellor with Immigrant Women Services Ottawa, providing critical support to immigrant women at risk of violence. This hybrid part time position emphasizes empowering clients through culturally sensitive counselling.
In this role, you'll draw on a minimum of three years of counselling experience to support immigrant and racialized women through individual and group sessions. Your responsibilities include conducting assessments and connections with additional community support services. Familiarity with domestic and sexual abuse issues is vital for effectively advocating on behalf of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer individual and group counselling to at-risk clients
• Facilitate advocacy and empower women in decision-making
• Prepare necessary documentation and service records
• Ensure women's access to broader community resources
• Collaborate with team members for holistic counselling approaches
Requirements:
• 3+ years of counselling experience required
• Proficient understanding of various forms of violence against women
• Excellent skills in communication and interpersonal relations
• Knowledge of database software and virtual meeting tools
• Police Record Check required for eventual employment
