Become a key member of Nova Scotia Health’s team as a Legal Counsel, providing expert legal and ethical guidance. This full time, hybrid role focuses on mental health law and strategic legal advice.
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, your role will entail offering sound legal representation and guidance within the Legal Services team. You will analyze multifaceted legal issues while supporting the Mental Health and Addictions Program, which includes various services such as Forensic Psychiatry and Community Mental Health. This role demands a team-oriented spirit and the capacity to work effectively both independently and with a team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice on complex health law matters
• Represent NSH in external legal matters
• Support Mental Health and Addictions Program operations
• Analyze and resolve multidimensional legal issues
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for effective outcomes
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Law (LLB/JD) required
• Minimum 8 years legal experience in relevant fields
• Practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society
• Expertise in health law, administrative law, and privacy law
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills
