Melt Room Operator

Position Summary

The Melt Room Operator is responsible for maintaining protected and continuous operation of the melting furnace to produce high quality aluminum ingots in support of die cast production. This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to drive a forklift and to work with molten metal in front of industrial furnaces.
Shift Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10 hour weekly rotating shifts (Days 7:00am - 5:00pm; Afternoons 5:00pm - 3:00am)

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Furnace charging; working with a furnace at 1400F to properly melt aluminum to a molten state.
Ensuring the holding furnaces are operating at their best capacity by: charge well fluxing, fluxing of holding bath, routine channel cleaning (rodding), cleaning the floor of reverb from build-up of metal,



and taking spectrometer samples.
Inspecting all scrap bin contents before charging to ensure they are dry and free of debris.
Using a forklift in a secure manner; ensuring valid license is maintained for forklift.
Placing ingots onto the stacker, strapping bundles with metal banding, and applying recycled aluminum control tag.
Completing all necessary paperwork/documentation and utilizing the appropriate computerized systems/ readings.
Housekeeping of work area; keeping it clean and free of debris.

Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
Forklift license preferred.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Adaptable to change.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Team player; able to work well with others.
