Our client, a well-established Calgary law firm, is seeking a highly capable Senior Legal Assistant to support its fast-paced Corporate Commercial and Commercial Real Estate practice.

What you’ll do
- Prepare, draft, revise, and format commercial contracts, agreements, correspondence, and transaction documents using firm precedents.
- Support commercial real estate conveyancing and secured lending transactions from opening through closing.
- Prepare corporate documentation, including resolutions, closing books, checklists, and minute-book updates.
- Register documents with the Alberta Land Titles Office and complete estate transmission and transfer registrations.
- Conduct conflict, due-diligence, and other required searches.
- Open, organize, maintain, and close physical and electronic client files.
- Coordinate client inquiries, engagement letters, retainer agreements, meetings, transactions, and closings.
- Assist with invoicing, cheque requisitions, trust transactions, retainers, cash receipts, credit-card payments, and other client-account administration.
- Take on related administrative responsibilities and special projects as needed.
What you bring
- At least six years of recent legal assistant experience in Corporate Commercial law, including commercial real estate transactions.
- Alberta commercial real estate experience is essential; exposure to taxation is an asset.
- A recognized Legal Assistant diploma or relevant post-secondary education.
- Strong knowledge of corporate commercial matters, real estate conveyancing, and secured lending.
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including managing large documents, styles, numbering, cross-references, tables of contents, and Track Changes; proficiency with Excel.
- Excellent drafting, editing, keyboarding, communication, and client-service skills.
- Exceptional organization, accuracy, sound judgment, and discretion with confidential information.
- A calm, positive, get-it-done approach and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a busy transactional environment.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a cooperative team.
