Elevate your career at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) as a Specialist in Environmental Liability Assessment in Calgary, AB. This full time, permanent role assesses the liability for high-risk locations and facilitates regulatory compliance.
As part of the Remediation and Contamination Management team, your work will ensure that complex sites like gas processing plants are accurately evaluated for potential liabilities. You’ll leverage your technical judgment to support suspension, remediation, and reclamation efforts while driving improvements in our liability management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate complex liability assessments to protect public interest
• Use technical analysis to inform cost estimates for site care
• Identify compliance requirements for regulatory actions needed
• Recommend practical improvements in management programs
• Foster collaboration among various stakeholders involved
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field
• 4+ years in Oil and Gas or 6+ years in regulatory roles
• Membership in relevant industry associations
• In-depth knowledge of relevant directives for assessments
• Exceptional time-management and communication skills
