SiteTalent is partnering with a well-established construction company in BC's Lower Mainland, operating a large and varied heavy equipment fleet, to find an experienced Heavy Equipent Mechanic. This is an opportunity to join a stable, respected team where your technical expertise will keep critical equipment running and, over time, grow into ownership of the operational side of the shop.

You will take a hands-on lead on maintaining and repairing the fleet - cranes, dump trucks, aerial lifts, and support equipment - while building toward a broader role in fleet tracking, purchasing, and team leadership.

If you take pride in doing the job right and you're ready for an environment that values initiative and rewards it with responsibility, this role could be for you.

Responsibilities:

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain a mixed heavy fleet, including cranes, dump trucks, aerial and lifting equipment, and associated hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and keep equipment compliant, safe, and job-ready.
- Troubleshoot in the shop and in the field, using diagnostic software and your own judgment.
- Keep accurate service records and help build out fleet tracking so we always know the real condition of every unit.
- Over time, take on more of the operational picture: parts sourcing, vendor relationships, purchasing input, and maintenance planning.
- Grow into a mentoring and leadership role for the shop as the team expands.

Qualifications:

- 7-10 years' hands on heavy equipment mechanic experience
- Solid hands-on experience across heavy equipment, with cranes, dump trucks,

and aerial/lifting equipment a strong asset.
- Road-building or heavy civil experience is a strong asset.
- Equipment rental shop background is highly desirable - that environment builds the breadth, speed, and resourcefulness this role needs.
- Comfort with up-to-date diagnostic tools and technology, including digital record keeping and fleet/maintenance software.
- A highly accountable and proactive approach - you see problems coming and take ownership without being asked.
- A big-picture mindset, with genuine interest in the operational side of the fleet, not just the next repair.
- Interest in growing into purchasing, fleet management, and team leadership over time.
- Valid driver's licence; Class 1 or air brake endorsement is an asset.

What We Can Offer You:

- Competitive compensation based on experience, with tool allowance and premiums for the right candidate
- Comprehensive benefits package
- A stable, respected company with deep roots in BC construction and a genuine path from the bench into shop leadership
