The Ministry of Community Safety is seeking Mental Health Correctional Officers for Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford. This permanent part-time opportunity offers meaningful work supporting offender rehabilitation, reducing re-offending, and helping create safer communities. Employees work within an interdisciplinary team committed to safe facilities, positive outcomes, and public service excellence. Successful candidates will complete a paid 11-week Induction Training Program.
The ministry is looking for accountable, adaptable, cutting-edge, and inclusive individuals who demonstrate integrity, respect, sound judgment, and teamwork. Candidates must be able to work effectively with diverse populations, build skilled relationships, support positive behavioural change, communicate effectively,
and respond appropriately in challenging situations. A commitment to continuous learning and collaboration is essential.
Required knowledge and qualifications include an understanding of the Canadian criminal justice system, human behaviour, rehabilitation principles, and the ability to apply legislation, policies, procedures, and therapeutic approaches. A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's licence (or equivalent) and valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification are required. Education is typically obtained through a degree in Social Sciences or a related field, a Law Enforcement diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A comprehensive medical evaluation is required.
Responsibilities include maintaining facility safety and security, supervising offenders, conducting patrols and security checks, participating in case management and programming, applying mental health and addictions knowledge, supporting recovery and rehabilitation, and responding to incidents using appropriate intervention strategies.
