The Okanagan Indian Band is seeking a dedicated Language Teacher to support K5-G7 students and staff in learning the nsyilxwcən language. The teacher will lead a team to enrich student experiences with culturally responsive education and the development of a comprehensive curriculum. This role embraces traditional practices and aims to create a supportive learning setting that uplifts Okanagan identity and values.
Key Responsibilities:
• Instruct using diverse language strategies for all groups
• Develop a comprehensive nsyilxwcən curriculum
• Provide cultural experiences and educational activities
• Submit a yearly overview with Land-Based Learning
• Collaborate on L&C; units and daily lesson plans
Requirements:
• BC Teacher Certification or equivalent
• Intermediate nsyilxwcən fluency required
• Knowledge of Okanagan cultural practices
• Experience in multi-level teaching environments
• Familiarity with language immersion strategies
