MDA Space is a global leader in satellite components and systems, serving customers worldwide for over six decades. We are looking for a Satellite Systems Platform Engineer to join our Montreal office.

Role
Provide RF and electrical system design, performance analysis, implementation, and testing in support of MDA Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) or Telecommunication satellites, covering Telemetry, Command and Ranging, Bus Power & Thermal, and Attitude Control Systems.

Tasks

Expertise on Telecommand and Ranging (TCR), Control and Data Handling (CD&H;), Bus Thermal Control (TCS), Attitude and Navigation Control Systems (ADCS), satellite power subsystems, propulsion subsystems, and architecture design.

Support or lead payload or platform design activities.

Collaborate with the platform team and partner suppliers, possibly traveling to MDA partner facilities outside Canada.

Participate in electrical and RF performance evaluation.

Write engineering documentation: system requirements, SOC, verification and validation matrix, design description, system budgets, equipment specifications, test requirements, RFD/RFW.

Perform worst‑case analysis and support all program reviews (EQSR, SRR, PDR, CDR).

Support satellite/platform assembly, integration, and test; attend all test reviews (TRR, TRB, DRB, NCR).

Support satellite testing at MDA, test facilities, or supplier premises.

Support In‑Orbit Test (IOT).

Technical monitoring of major subcontractors.

Support DC & RF harness design,



platform and payload layout.

Write subsystem operations manual.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical or aerospace engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Experience with design and AIT for GEO and LEO satellite systems.

Understanding of the space environment and orbit mechanics.

Strong grasp of aerospace systems and engineering fundamentals.

Experience testing satellite subsystems.

Capability to test RF systems and resolve issues.

Hands‑on individual who can manage all systems integration processes.

Experience with qualification and acceptance testing of recent designs.

High attention to detail.

Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Analytical problem‑solving skills and creative thinking.

Experience creating or using models and simulation software.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.

Experience leading a technical team.

Support spacecraft operations in critical phases.

Comments / Special Considerations
Successful candidates must obtain and hold a security clearance at the SECRET status level II and pass the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment.
