Take on a pivotal role as a Research Technician with the BC Public Service located in Smithers, BC. Focus on essential wildlife data projects that support ecological stewardship.
This temporary position, available until March 31, 2027, provides an chance to work in one of British Columbia’s ecologically rich landscapes. You will engage in field research and data collection, collaborating with Indigenous communities and industry experts. Ensure the quality and accuracy of data used for wildlife conservation decisions while conducting impactful fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage in comprehensive field data collection and reporting
• Perform various ecological field measurements
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams
• Use ArcGIS for geospatial data analysis
• Adapt to outdoor work in diverse weather conditions
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources or higher
• Minimum of three years related field experience
• Valid BC driver’s license, able to meet safety standards
• Experience in terrestrial ecosystem mapping in BC
• Competent using Program R for data control
