Job Description
The Transport Respiratory Therapist will be responsible to provide advanced respiratory treatment to complex/critical patients in unpredictable settings encountered in a wide variety of health care facilities. Transportation and care of these patients will occur via air or ground transport. The Transport Respiratory Therapist will be expected to perform advanced skill procedures learned through specialized training under the direction of the Transport Physician via protocols, guidelines and orders received in person or via telephone communication. Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.

Experience
2 years minimum experience in a critical care environment
Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care required
Education
Respiratory Therapy diploma (RT)
Other Education and Training
Completion of the Neonatal Transport Training Course
Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to be adaptable and willing to change
Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to work independently
Demonstrated knowledge and/or training in the neonatal patient population
Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations
