About Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse,andcomprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication SciencesandDisordersandFoodandNutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in HealthandRehabilitation Sciencesandfour Research Centers. The faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate studentsandmore than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).

Responsibilities

The Research Associate is a grant funded position, will report to Dr. Oudshoorn, and apply their expertise and knowledge and will be accountable for designing, developing, conducting, and evaluating new approaches to ensure research and project objectives are met. The Research Associate will generate, evaluate and analyze data, prepare and present reports and findings.

Qualifications

- PhD in relevant position preferred

Experience

- 3 years' working experience in a related academic research environment
- Work on postdoctoral research portfolio, directly related to the research focus preferred

Skills, Abilities & Expertise

- Communication skills with the ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Advanced skills in software and applications supporting the research development and analysis




- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
- Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work workplace
- Familiarity with University research policies and practices
- Oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on proposal development and presentation
- Ability to work in a fluid and evolving work environment with changing deadlines and priorities
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
- Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
