Support reconciliation efforts at the Pickering Public Library as an Indigenous Relations and Outreach Associate. This full time role emphasizes engagement with Indigenous communities through meaningful programs and services.
In this position, you will help foster an inclusive workplace by honoring Indigenous knowledge and integrating it into library offerings. Your focus will be on collaborating with Indigenous Elders and organizations to enhance community outreach and cultural representation. By facilitating programs and outreach activities, you will directly improve the experiences of Indigenous residents at the library.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage diverse Indigenous communities and gather feedback
• Develop an Indigenous community advisory group




• Facilitate programs and activities for the public
• Organize outreach activities, tours, and events
• Prepare program materials and marketing content
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in relevant fields
• 9 months of related experience
• Robust understanding of Indigenous cultures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexible working hours and valid driver’s license
