The Small Engine Mechanic will support our equipment division to ensure optimal performance of our tools and small equipment. This role involves diagnosing, performing routine maintenance and ensuring our equipment meets and exceeds safety and operational standards.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Diagnose and repair small engines (chainsaws, brush cutters, pumps, generators).
Service and repair diesel‑powered plate packers and other light construction equipment.
Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, filter and spark plug replacements, belt adjustments, etc.
Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance through computer system.
Keep a clean, protected, and organized work area.
Communicate clearly with team members.
Follow all safety procedures and company standards.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience with small engine repair.
Hands‑on experience with diesel engines, especially plate compactors/packers.
Solid mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
Self‑motivated and able to work independently or in a team.
Basic computer skills for service logging.
Valid driver’s license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Small Engine or Diesel Mechanics.
Experience with hydraulic systems.
Familiarity with brands such as Wacker Neuson, Multiquip, Honda, Toro, Dyna Pac.
