The opportunity As organizations continue to move talent across borders, managing the tax implications of a globally mobile workforce has never been more complex—or more critical. EY’s People Advisory Services, PAS Mobility practice supports multinational employers and internationally mobile individuals with tailored Canadian and US tax compliance and advisory solutions that enable mobility strategies and business success.
As a Senior Tax Staff within our Mobility - Expatriate Tax - team, you will play an important role in delivering cross‑border tax services for globally mobile employees, executives, and their employers. You will work on increasingly complex files, apply technical judgment across jurisdictions, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a supportive, team‑based environment. This role offers meaningful technical development, growing client exposure, and a clear pathway toward more senior roles within Mobility.
Your key responsibilities Prepare and review complex Canadian and US personal income tax returns for internationally mobile employees, including inbound and outbound assignees
Identify appropriate Canadian and US tax filing positions, assessing risk and technical implications
Advise clients on the tax implications of cross‑border employment, compensation, and mobility arrangements
Research tax technical matters and apply conclusions to compliance and advisory deliverables
Support mobility advisory engagements, including planning considerations and global coordination initiatives
Review work prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback
Utilize EY technology and standardized tools to improve efficiency and quality
Contribute to national learning initiatives through technical content development or training delivery
Skills and attributes for success Strong interest in global mobility and cross‑border personal taxation
Ability to analyze complex tax issues and exercise sound professional judgment
Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Curious, adaptable mindset in a technology‑enabled environment
Commitment to teamwork and delivering high‑quality client service
Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin, are not required but are valued.
To qualify for the role, you must have A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Relevant experience in Canadian and or US personal taxation, ideally with exposure to expatriate or mobility‑related matters
Strong working knowledge of tax compliance systems and applicable legislation
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Progress toward a CPA or Enrolled Agent designation

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.
British Columbia: $65,500 to $98,500
