Be a pivotal part of The Salvation Army's mission as a Shelter Worker in Vancouver. You'll monitor safety and provide vital support to clients in emergency shelters.
The Salvation Army seeks a Shelter Worker to join their team in Vancouver's downtown eastside. This role requires robust interpersonal skills, emotional support capability, and knowledge of harm reduction practices. Your responsibilities will include monitoring clients and completing required documentation while engaging with multi-program services in a diverse setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure client safety and facility security
• Conduct client intake interviews and screenings
• Advocate and provide emotional support to clients
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties
Requirements:
• Minimum three months of experience in social services
• High School education plus specialized courses
• Training in Naloxone, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid
• Robust communication and basic computer skills
• Background check clearance required
