Overview The RF Engineering team (focused on planning, designing, deploying the optimizing the radio network in Ontario) is looking for a motivated Engineering professional, who is willing to take on new challenges, and is ready to elevate their skills to design, deploy and optimize the best network in Canada. Working in a fast paced and multi-disciplinary workplace, the successful candidate will use strong technical and leadership skills to collaborate across teams and within an agile zone team to ensure sites are built according to plan, on time, and provide maximum benefit to customers.
Responsibilities Engineer state-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) network designs for 5G and LTE deployments, ensuring optimal coverage, capacity, and customer experience performance that will keep us ahead of the competition
Conduct thorough RF Performance analyses to identify network problem areas and evaluate/deploy solutions to improve customer experience, network quality and performance
Conduct site surveys and RF measurements, providing critical insights for assessing existing infrastructure and to identify optimal deployment locations
Plan and design new sites based on simulated RF coverage analysis using RF propagation tool (Atoll) to maximize RoI and customer experience improvements
Design antenna configuration for new sites & site upgrades (antenna selection, elevation, orientation, tilt, and SC6 compliance)
Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Construction, Real Estate, Field Operations, Zone Operations to ensure cohesive network integration
Assess post in-service impacts using network KPIs, customer experience metrics and other key indicators to demonstrate benefit to customers
Produce required technical documentation to demonstrate impact on customer experience from introduction of new site(s) / site upgrade(s)
Create Installation Work Orders to enable implementation of site solution
Analyze existing network performance and initiate improvements where required
Identify automation opportunities, and liaison with right team members to deliver automation capabilities to improve efficiency within Wireless Engineering and Operations
Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field
Critical Competencies Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in radio network design and optimization focused on 5G and LTE technologies
Deep working knowledge and experience on different RAN technologies: HSPA/UMTS, LTE, 5G NSA/SA
In-depth knowledge and hand-on skills on Network Management Systems (Nokia NetAct, Ericsson ENM, Huawei U2020)
Knowledge of radio network hardware (antennae, radios, basebands)
In-depth knowledge and hand-on skills using Actix Analyzer and DriveTest Analysis Tools
Proficient using RF propagation tools such as Atoll
Business acumen to assess value and impact from the work
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong interpersonal and communication
Strong leadership and facilitation skills
Strong analytical/ troubleshooting skills to analyze network performance and customer experience metrics to perform root cause analysis
Strong organizational and time management skills
Innovative and open minded to new ways of working with attitude focused on team success and improving customer experience
Preferred Competencies Experience working in a multi-team/ Scaled Agile environment (SAFe)
