Elevate your research skills as a Laboratory Technician with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary. This full time position offers hands-on experience in mouse handling, PCR, and tissue analysis.
As a Laboratory Technician, you will engage in experimental tasks that include monitoring prion-infected mice, performing DNA/RNA extractions, and conducting Western blotting. You will also assist in lab operations, ensuring a well-organized workspace, and collaborate closely with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Handle and monitor prion-infected mice
• Perform DNA/RNA extractions and cDNA synthesis
• Conduct Western blotting and protein analysis
• Cultivate and maintain mammalian cell lines
• Support lab management and order supplies
Requirements:
• BSc in biochemistry, neuroscience, or related field
• Experience with mouse handling preferred
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
• Robust attention to detail in record keeping
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team workplace
