As an Accessibility Assistant, you will report to the Director of Learning Commons & Academic Success Centre, working closely with the Accessibility Advisor. Your responsibilities will include taking notes, facilitating participation, and ensuring accessibility in classrooms. To succeed in this role, you’ll need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
• Take concise lecture notes and facilitate participation
• Act as a reader or scribe for students
• Ensure classroom accessibility for students with disabilities
• Assist with adaptive equipment and technology
• Support students in connecting with necessary resources
Requirements:
• High School completion with advanced courses in disability support
• 6 months experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Valuable organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
