This full time term position focuses on developing the recent secondary immersion program while engaging grades 8 to 12 in culturally relevant education. Collaborate with a supportive team including Elders and community members to optimize language instruction methods. Robust classroom management and curriculum development skills are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the integration of Hul'q'umi'num' language in classes
• Create engaging lesson plans that reflect Indigenous culture
• Assess and support student academic and social-emotional needs
• Facilitate partnerships with local cultural organizations
• Compile and adapt educational resources for diverse learners
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent preferred
• Certification from BC Ministry of Education or commitment to obtain
• Experience with Indigenous language instruction preferred
• Proficiency in Hul'q'umi'num' language required
• Valid background check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
